Do you accept waiver funds or Medicaid as payment?

No, as the Skills Development Center is comprised of a Facilitated Rec Center and a very unique set of programs and we do not fit into the structure of waivered services.  Therefore we are private pay with a reasonable fee structure where you only pay for the services utilized.

What types of financial assistance could be used for the SDC’s services?

The IFSP fund is available to those that qualify on the Intellectual Disability/Developmental Disability (ID/DD) Waiver wait list.

What population and age group does the SDC serve?

Our programs are for developmentally and intellectually disabled adults ages 18 and above.

Is the SDC a day support center?

No, the SDC does not provide day support services. We focus on providing a place where young adults can enjoy age appropriate activities with their peers as well as building appropriate social skills in our Facilitated Rec Center.  We also offer specialized programs that focus on instruction and preparation to enhance independent living skills as well as prevocational behavioral skills to improve individuals’ success in future employment.

Does the SDC close for national holidays and inclement weather?

Yes, the SDC closes for national holidays and in the event of inclement weather.

How is the SDC staff qualified to serve my developmentally delayed adult?

Staff at the SDC has extensive experience working with the special needs population. Staff and board members hold B.A., B.S., and MEd. degrees. Several of the staff have training in Picture Exchange Communication, TEACCH, and ABA.

Why would a parent use your services instead of other agencies?

We have a small staff to client ratio and are able to be flexible enough to meet each person’s needs. Our goal is to provide quality services that focus on life-long skills towards independence.
